The first: call an expensive in-home service, which generally costs between 120-300 dollars, just for an hour of work, and only after waiting between 3-7 days. The second: take your system into a local repair shop. That will generally cost you between $100-$200, and could take up to a week to get your system back, with no guarantee that it will continue to work, and no guarantee that your information will be saved. The third: if your system is under warranty, you can send it back in to the manufacturer. Your data will not be saved, and this could take more than 6 weeks. The truth is, you are overpaying for under-certified technicians. For example, say you want to upgrade your RAM (memory) from 512MB to 2048MB. An average in-home service would cost you $175-200 to do this, and that does not include hardware. We charge only $110 for the same thing, including hardware.
